The Battle of Flowers Parade and the Flambeau Parade are held during the Fiesta week in the spring. The youth of Grace use this event as their fund raiser for the year. The proceeds help to defer the costs of their activities such as summer camping, retreats, conventions and mission trips. The youth, their parents and any available volunteers are invited to assist with the setting up and taking down of chairs at the parade site as well as selling parking for the event.
Grace Lutheran Church Women – The women of Grace are involved in many aspects of church life. They meet about six times during the year with a program and a meal. There is usually an ongoing service project for Lutheran World Relief and CAM (Christian Assistance Ministry). In addition, some of the women gather for bible study with the Naomi or Esther Circle, serve on the Alter Guild and make quilts with the Grace Quilters.
This is generally held in the spring and is a project of the GLCW. One of the opportunities at the event this year is to donate hair to Locks of Love or Pantene who provide hair for children or women who have hair loss. Those who would like to participate in the hair cutting will have an opportunity to have their hair cut the day of the banquet.
During Lent there are services or meditations held at noon and in the evening on Wednesday’s beginning with Ash Wednesday through Holy Week. There are light meals before or after the worship.
This event is held Palm Sunday following worship. There is lunch, games, and an Easter egg hunt with prizes.
A joint celebration sunrise service with St John’s Lutheran Churchis held at the Arneson River Theatre on the River Walk on Easter morning. Following worship a taco breakfast is provided in Fetter Hall.
This opportunity to volunteer is usually in the fall. We meet at the church, take the church bus, and go to a work site for the day to help build a house for Habitat.
Usually held in October. Fried fish with all the trimmings is cooked and served on site. Members donate items for the silent auction. Funds raised have typically been used to support the annual budget.
This group meets weekly, Thursday mornings, at Grace to make quilts for the Lutheran World Relief quilt program. The materials are all donated. A few times during the year a few of the quilts are auctioned to raise money for the batting. The quilts are shipped once a year in the spring. This year they will send over two hundred quilts.
