GLCW
As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, and engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the Church, the society and the world.
The women of Grace are organized into several groups. They have ongoing service projects, provide food for bereaved families and send cards to the shut-ins and hospitalized.
Grace Quilters meet weekly, Thursday from 9:00am until noon to make quilts for the Lutheran World Relief quilt program. The materials are all donated. A few times during the year a few of the quilts are auctioned to raise money for the batting. The quilts are shipped once a year in the spring. This year they will send over two hundred quilts.
The Altar Guild is an integral part of the worship experience as they are responsible for preparing communion each Sunday. They care for the communion vessels and linens as well as change and care for the alter hangings. They decorate the sanctuary for Christmas and Easter. After worship, they take alter flowers, that are not picked up by the donor, to a shut-in or a hospitalized member.
The ongoing service and stewardship projects include:
- Collecting donations for Lutheran World Relief and CAM.
- Visit shut-ins at Christmas and bring a gift.
- Collect items for School Kits, Health Kits and Sewing Kits for LWR.
- Sell LWR Fair Trade coffee, tea, chocolate and other Fair Trade Items.
