The Messenger 2012 February

It is February; for a Yankee, it is warm, not that I am complaining! I love it! It is with mixed feelings that I compose this article. For, our brother, Stephen Tezel, has passed on to be with the Father. While we celebrate his wonderful life on earth and his eternal life in the heavenly realm, we will miss him dearly! However, Stephen would want us to serve on, my beloved Grace sisters and brothers in Christ! In this regard, I want to point us to our Congregational Retreat, coming on March 23rd and 24th. This will be an opportunity for us to study, to pray, to fellowship, to talk about the present and future of our beloved Grace Lutheran Church, the church that God has entrusted to all of us! God wants, and we need, to hear every voice of the members and friends of Grace Lutheran! Every age-group’s, every family’s, every one’s point of view is important to God and to Grace! It is my ardent prayer that all of us will make every effort to set this time aside, to walk in the footsteps of Stephen Tezel, and all the faithful who have gone on to the Father, before us, from Grace. So, let us meet, pray, and be a part of the beginning of the glorious future that God surely has planned for us! In Christ,

Youth Talent Show

Join us this Sunday, February 12th, 2012 following church services for our Youth Talent Show. Please invite your family and friends and show support of all of our talented Youth and Adults! There will be a “Free Will” offering basket for the Spaghetti lunch, all proceeds will go towards our Youth’s upcoming trips.

Congregational Retreat

March 23rd and 24th is Grace’s Congregational Retreat being held at Zion Lutheran, in Helotes, TX. Please contact Pastor Gentile or our office manager, Nicole Shenot, for further details.

Fiesta

Day Parade is Friday, April 27th and Night Parade is Saturday, April 28th. There are some tickets available. They are $10 each, and going fast! Please contact either Karen Wright or Nicole Shenot.

Grace Niños News

January is already over, and so is our school year! It has been a month of celebrations for our class. Congratulations to Ryan, who turned 6 this month and Jayden, who turned 5! Congratulations to Isaac and his family on the birth of a new baby sister!

Special recognition this month went to Hunter, Miranda, Alanya, Korey, Zachary, and Roxanne, who had a full month of reading recorded on their calendars. All of our students celebrated the end of our first reading challenge month with a pizza party on January 31st. Way to go everyone!

Throughout the month, we have been learning about the winter season. We had white day, and the class went on a “bear hunt”. Fortunately, the bear was hibernating!

We have also been learning about Jesus growing up and preparing for his role as a teacher and healer. We talked about John and Jesus’ baptism.

We are building on our sight word list for older students and are beginning to build simple sentences.

February will be a short, but busy month, with a planned visit to the fire station, our Valentine party, and also a western celebration during rodeo week.

We’re off to a great start in 2012!

Naomi Circle
